Last Wednesday, 26 of April, the Pro-Am Madrid’s Challenge set off for a new thrilling competition. The best golfers from 28 different nationalities will be competing to become the best golfer in Madrid and winner of this tournament.
The Challenge tour is known to be the trampoline to the European tour, which only the 15 best in the Race to Omán will be able to get there. Something that Nacho Elvira and Borja Virto were able to accomplish last year. So we’ll be able to enjoy the best golf in the world here in Madrid.
This year will be hosted by Real Club de Golf la Herrería, placed in a protected natural environment, property of the National Patrimony and located at 45km from Madrid, and just 400m from the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo del Escorial. The golf course has 75 hectares, with a classic design, which now a day is not so easy to find, in perfect conditions to enjoy golf in Madrid, more specifically, in a charming historical atmosphere. We can´t imagine of a better way to enjoy and celebrate the 50th anniversary of this renowned Golf Club.
Next to Jordan Smith, the British golfer that won last week’s Egyptian tournament, we can find competing for the trophy our Spanish best know golfers Pablo Martín Benavides, Álvaro Velasco, Antonio Hortal, José Manuel Lara or Javier Colomo. The tournament, after the 2º round, will make a cut in the classification, and only the best 60 will be the ones fighting for the trophy in the last two rounds that will take place during the weekend.
The Pro-am Madrid’s Challenge, during the weekend, will give up to 170.000€ in awards. Counting with the principal sponsor the Royal Spanish Golf Federation and the support of Reale, Solán de Cabras and Kyocera.
Madrid is still an unknown golf destination, so we want discover you 34 world renowned golf courses in Madrid, being the only European city with top notch golf courses near the city center. In a ratio of 15 to 50 km, you can find 25 courses designed by legends such as Severiano Ballesteros, Jack Nicklaus, Van Hagge, Olazabal among others.
