Royal Club La Moraleja

Golf Madrid

SINCE 1972

Course Details

Located just north of Madrid in Alcobendas and Algete, Real Club La Moraleja stands as Spain’s largest golf club and one of the most prominent in Europe within a metropolitan area. This exclusive private club embraces the essence of golf as a refined lifestyle through four 18‑hole championship courses designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus

The Four Courses—Unique Challenges, Shared Excellence

  • Course 1

    • Nicklaus’s first European design, inaugurated in 1976.

    • A short, narrow, and highly technical layout where water hazards and out-of-bounds lurk on all but one hole; the greens are small, fast, and undulating—demanding precision and strategy,

  • Course 2

    • Designed by Nicklaus Design under Ron Kirby, opened in 1990.

    • A longer, more forgiving design, wider with larger greens; still strategic, with four lakes affecting six holes and a standout green on a peninsula at the 16th.

  • Course 3

    • A Jack Nicklaus “Signature” parkland-style course, opened in 2013 in Algete.

    • Extended length (6,830 m), wide fairways, expansive greens, 68 bunkers, and three major lakes. A strategic masterpiece voted the second best course in Spain by Golf Digest.

  • Course 4

    • Also developed under Nicklaus Design and opened in 2012–13.

    • Features vegetated isles, gentle mounds, aquatic-lined lakes, and flexible tee configurations—crafted to offer diverse play strategies and rugged charm.

Beyond the Golf

But there’s more than golf at La Moraleja. Members and guests enjoy:

  • A 9-hole pitch & putt, full driving range, extensive short-game facilities, and two clubhouses with dedicated children’s chalets.

  • A top-tier sports complex featuring tennis (8 courts), paddle tennis (12 lit, 5 covered), squash, indoor/outdoor pools, a gym, spa, multiple restaurants, and family-focused amenities like kids’ areas and salon services.

Legacy & Prestige

Since its establishment as a public limited company in 1973, serving over 6,000 shareholders, the club has earned its royal title in 2018, becoming Real Club La Moraleja under King Felipe VI—further enhancing its prestige. It has hosted major international events like the Spanish Open, World Cup of Golf, and prestigious paddle tennis championships.
