Real Club La Moraleja · Course 3

In 2014 Golf Digest ranked Moraleja 3 the second best course in Spain, behind Valderrama. It had been open for barely a year.

It is a Jack Nicklaus Signature course, the big one at La Moraleja: 6,830 metres, wide fairways, large greens, 68 bunkers and three lakes that shape half the holes.

It is built for strategy more than strength. Every hole gives you a choice, and the scorecard tells you afterwards whether you made the right one.

Who it suits

The golfer who wants the big course

Single-figure and mid handicappers who want to play one of the best-rated courses in Spain on a trip to Madrid.

Groups who enjoy a course where course management matters more than raw length, though the length is there if you go back a tee.

Pairs well with Moraleja 4 on the same site, or with Golf Santander for two big rounds in one trip.

How a round here works

Monday to Thursday, booked ahead

La Moraleja is a private members’ club. Visitors play Monday to Thursday, except public holidays, and only with a tee time booked in advance.

We book it with the club and send you the confirmation in writing before you fly. Your visitor round comes with a buggy, range balls, a picnic and a welcome pack.

Bring your handicap certificate or your home club card. We check the club’s handicap requirement for your group when we book, so nobody finds out at the first tee.

Rental clubs and a driver from your hotel can be added to the same booking. The price depends on the day, the season and the size of your group, and we confirm it together with your tee time.

Location

Algete, 20 minutes from the airport

Moraleja 3 is at the club’s second site, Finca Soto de Mozanaque, in Algete. The address is Carretera de Fuente el Saz (M-111), km 16.5, 28110 Algete. Moraleja 3 and 4 share the same clubhouse.

From Puerta del Sol it is roughly 30 km, around 30 to 40 minutes by car depending on traffic, out on the A-1.

Madrid-Barajas airport is about 20 minutes away. If you are staying in the centre, a transfer is the comfortable option: there is no practical public transport to this side of the club.

La Moraleja 3 FAQS

Golf Digest ranked it second in Spain in 2014, behind Valderrama, and the club received the World of Leading Golf award for course maintenance in 2017. It remains one of the top-ranked courses around Madrid.

No. Courses 3 and 4 are at the club’s second site in Algete, about 20 minutes’ drive from Courses 1 and 2. Plan your transfer for Algete, not for La Moraleja estate.

No. La Moraleja opens to visitors Monday to Thursday, and not on public holidays. Weekends belong to the members. If your trip includes a weekend, we put La Moraleja early in the week and fill Friday to Sunday with courses that welcome visitors every day, such as Golf Santander or Centro Nacional.

Yes. Bring your handicap certificate or your home club card. Your home federation handicap is valid, you don’t need a Spanish licence. We confirm the club’s limit for your group when we book.

They share a clubhouse, so it is possible if the club has tee times for both. For most groups one round a day, with lunch at the club, makes a better trip. We will tell you what is available for your dates.
